Located in Kamikawa-cho, Hyogo Prefecture, this plateau is covered with a magnificent carpet of silver grass. In autumn, the area is covered with a magnificent golden color, and it is also famous as a filming location for movies and TV dramas.
Tonomine Plateau is located at an altitude of about 800 to 900 meters, and you can enjoy the scenery of each season.

Especially in autumn, the entire plateau is covered with golden silver grass, and the fantastic sight of the silver grass swaying in the wind like waves captivates visitors. Due to its magnificent beauty, it has been used as a location for many movies, dramas, and commercials, and many fans make pilgrimages to the sacred site. The silver grass carpet that spreads out as far as the eye can see is truly a work of art woven by nature.

The best time to see the silver grass field is from late September to early November every year. The silver grass starts out light in color and gradually darkens, turning into a golden grass field in late October. The Hyogo Tonomine Plateau Silver Grass Festival is held every year to coincide with the best viewing period.

[Trivia]

Tonomine Plateau became famous as a location for the movie "Norwegian Wood" and the NHK Taiga drama "Taira no Kiyomori".

[Secret Spots]
The main area of the Japanese silver grass colony is crowded with many people, but there are secret spots a little off the boardwalk or a little further into the plateau where you can enjoy the scenery of Japanese silver grass in relative peace. Especially in the early morning or at dusk, the Japanese silver grass shines in various colors depending on the light, and it is a chance to take fantastic photos. Also, if you visit outside the peak season of the Japanese silver grass, you may be able to have the plateau all to yourself with a different look, such as green grassland or snowy scenery.

[Useful points of concern]
The peak season of the Japanese silver grass (late September to early November), weekends, and consecutive holidays are very crowded, and the parking lot may be full and the surrounding roads may be congested. We recommend that you visit with plenty of time or aim for early morning. Because the plateau is at a high altitude, it can be cold in the mornings and evenings even in autumn. Please take proper measures against the cold. In winter, roads may be closed due to snow accumulation.
