Located in Tateyama Town, Toyama Prefecture, this is the highest point on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. A treasure trove of alpine plants spread out at an altitude of 2,450m, you can experience the grandeur of nature.
Tateyama Murododaira is a plateau located at an altitude of 2,450m, almost in the center of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, in Tateyama Town, Nakaniikawa District, Toyama Prefecture. It spreads out at the foot of Mt. Oyama, the main peak of the Tateyama mountain range, and is known as a treasure trove of majestic nature and alpine plants. In the surrounding area, there are mountain huts that serve as bases for climbing Mt. Tateyama, and the highest hot spring in Japan, Mikurigaike Onsen, and many climbers and tourists visit as a place where they can have a special experience unique to high mountains.

The greatest attraction of Murododaira is its majestic nature and the fact that you can easily enjoy alpine plants and alpine scenery. In early summer, as the snow melts, various alpine plants bloom in abundance, spreading a colorful carpet. In particular, Mikurigaike, with its beautiful emerald green lake surface, is popular as a scenic spot with the Tateyama mountain range in the background. There are well-maintained walking trails in the surrounding area, so you can enjoy trekking without worrying about altitude sickness. In autumn, the leaves of the grass turn red, creating a magnificent scene of the entire area dyed gold.

Murododaira in Mt. Tateyama is not just a place to stroll, but also a place to experience the faith and history of Mt. Tateyama, which has long been the subject of mountain worship, has a history of many ascetic monks climbing the mountain.
