Located at an altitude of about 200m near Cape Muroto, this ancient temple is the 26th of the 88 Shikoku temples. It is an ancient temple that is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi, and is a tranquil power spot where secret Buddha statues and precious sacred treasures live on.
Kongocho-ji is an ancient temple where Kobo Daishi is said to have carved a statue of Yakushi Nyorai and built a temple in 807. Located near the summit of Mt. Sankaku behind the main hall, it once welcomed pilgrims as a difficult spot on the "Pilgrimage Route." Even today, a tranquil atmosphere permeates the deep mountains.

The temple is home to the bronze standing statue of Kannon Bodhisattva, an Important Cultural Property.

The view of the Muroto sea and mountain ranges below is also captivating, and you can enjoy observing mountain streams and wildflowers from the footpath beside the approach to the temple. Caution is advised in winter as roads can freeze over due to wind and rain.
