Hotaka Shrine is a shrine in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture, that is considered the guardian deity of the Japanese Alps. Known as the shrine for the gods of traffic safety, financial luck, and business prosperity, it is a representative power spot in Azumino, where magnificent nature and history blend in harmony.
Located in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture, Hotaka Shrine is the third shrine in Shinano Province and an ancient, venerable shrine located at the foot of Mount Hotaka in the Northern Alps. Its main deity is Hotakaminomikoto, considered the ancestral deity of the pioneering pioneers of the Japanese Alps. He is therefore devoutly revered as the guardian deity of mountain climbing and road safety, and many people visit to pray for safe mountaineering. Deep within the shrine grounds, there is the Okumiya at the summit of Mount Hotaka, and Myojin Pond, an outer shrine on the shores of the pond.

The grounds are surrounded by lush greenery and the air is refreshing. Passing through the impressive shrine gate, you will find the main hall, worship hall, and offering hall, all radiating a sense of history. Also towering within the grounds are giant cedar trees, some hundreds of years old, whose powerful forms are truly awe-inspiring.

The Okumiya is located in Kamikochi, and the Minemiya is located at the summit of Mount Okuhotaka.
