This shrine enshrines Emperor Tenchi and is known as a sacred place for karuta. It is surrounded by beautiful vermilion tower gates and lush greenery, allowing you to worship in a quiet and sacred atmosphere.
Omi Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Emperor Tenchi, who carried out the Taika Reforms, and was founded relatively recently in 1940. It is also known as the "Hall of Karuta" because Emperor Tenchi composed the first poem of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu, and is a sacred place where national competitive karuta tournaments are held.

The shrine grounds are lush with greenery, and the vermilion tower gate in particular creates a beautiful landscape that stands out against the surrounding nature. It is also highly regarded as a modern shrine building and is designated as a registered tangible cultural property.

In addition, the shrine grounds house the Clock and Treasure House, where you can see various antique clocks and documents, in commemoration of Emperor Tenchi's use of a water clock (water clock) for the first time in Japan. It is a place where you can feel history, culture, and tranquility.
