Nunobiki Falls is a waterfall in Kumano City, Mie Prefecture, and is one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan.

It is located along the Nakahechi section of the Kumano Kodo, and is counted as one of the 48 hidden mountain pilgrimage sites.

It has a drop of 53 meters and consists of four tiers. The first tier is 12 meters, the second tier is 3.5 meters, the third tier is 7.7 meters, and the fourth tier is 29.1 meters.

The waterfall basin is about 10 meters deep, and the surrounding trees create a mysterious atmosphere.

Nunobiki Falls is a popular tourist spot on the Kumano Kodo, and you can enjoy the scenery in every season.

It is located deep in the mountains, driving from National Route 168 to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine on Prefectural Route 780.

It takes about an hour by car from Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine.

The promenade leading to the basin of the waterfall is unpaved in some places, so it is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes. It may be slippery, especially after rain. There are few large-scale tourist facilities or restaurants around the waterfall, so you should plan meals and rest stops in advance.
