Izumo Soba Kaneya is located in Kitsukihigashi, Taisha-cho, Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, and is within walking distance of Izumo Taisha Shrine. It is a long-established restaurant founded in 1929, and is a prestigious restaurant that also offers soba at the festivals of Izumo Taisha Shrine. The noodles are dark in color, rich in aroma, and have a firm texture and chewiness because they are made from buckwheat flour, which is a characteristic of Izumo soba, in which the buckwheat seeds are ground with the husks. They also go perfectly with the sweet broth made from round herring and Hidaka kelp, attracting many soba fans.

The menu is popular for its classic Izumo soba dish, "warigo soba." The unique style of eating soba in a three-tiered round lacquerware with condiments and thick soup is a unique way to enjoy Izumo soba. There are also a wide variety of set menus such as hot "kamaage soba" and tempura, so you can choose according to your preference. The interior of the restaurant has a simple, calming atmosphere reminiscent of an old Japanese house, allowing you to enjoy your meal at your own pace.

The restaurant felt more like a diner run by middle-aged women than like a soba restaurant in a tourist area.

It might not be worth making a special trip to as a tourist, but on the other hand it may be a good choice for people who aren't satisfied with the typical soba restaurants in tourist areas.

There was parking space for seven cars at the back side of the restaurant.
