Hinomisaki Shrine in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, is an ancient shrine that is said to "protect the nights of Hinomoto." It is a mystical power spot where the vermilion-painted shrine building and the magnificent view of the Sea of Japan harmonize in harmony.
Hinomisaki Shrine is located in Hinomisaki, Taisha-cho, Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, on a cliff facing the Sea of Japan at the westernmost tip of the Shimane Peninsula. While Ise Grand Shrine "controls the daytime of Hinomoto," Hinomisaki Shrine is a very important shrine that "protects the night of Hinomoto." Amaterasu Omikami is enshrined in the lower shrine, "Hishizumi-no-miya," and Susanoo-no-mikoto is enshrined in the upper shrine, "Kami-no-miya." The vivid vermilion-painted shrine building contrasts beautifully with the lush pine forests and the blue Sea of Japan, and the scenery is so beautiful that it is also called "Dragon Palace."

Within the precincts, there are shrine buildings (nationally important cultural properties) built by order of Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third shogun of the Edo shogunate, and the beams and girders are decorated with delicate carvings of dragons, tigers, cranes, and turtles, making for a beautiful sight. In particular, Nichin Shrine is said to have once been enshrined on Fumishima, an island in the nearby sea, and its historical background is also intriguing.

Just behind the shrine is the coast, and there is a torii gate on the island (rock mountain) right in front of it.
