Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, is the tallest chalk stone lighthouse in Japan. From the observation deck, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of the majesty of the Sea of Japan.
Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse is located in Hinomisaki, Taisha-cho, Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, and stands on the cliffs where the rough waves of the Sea of Japan crash on the westernmost tip of the Shimane Peninsula. It was first lit in 1903, and its tower is 43.65 m above ground, making it the tallest stone lighthouse in Japan. It is registered as a national tangible cultural property, and its chalky white exterior creates a beautiful contrast with the surrounding blue sea and lush pine forest.
It is a famous observation deck that is said to be the best in the Orient and is one of Japan's most famous, with ties to the Japanese Navy and other organizations, and is said to have high historical value.

The area around the lighthouse is part of Daisen-Oki National Park, and has many attractive natural features, such as cliffs and unique rock formations.

From the bird watching platform and observation deck near the lighthouse, you can get a close-up look at Fumishima Island, which is a national natural monument designated as a breeding ground for black-tailed gulls.

There are no fences on the cliffs, so your legs will freeze when you get close. It's just like a cliff in a suspense drama.
