Ikaruga-dera Temple is a temple with a history that is said to have started in 606 when Prince Shotoku built a temple there.
Ikaruga-dera Temple is a very historic temple that is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku in 606. It is said that the prince received land in Harima Province (present-day southwestern Hyogo Prefecture) from Empress Suiko and established it as a manor for Horyuji Temple. The three-story pagoda is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and still retains a strong resemblance to the time of its construction. In addition, the temple grounds are dotted with buildings of great historical value, such as the three-story pagoda and lecture hall, and you can feel the weight of their long history from their architectural style and detailed decorations.

The "three 18-foot Buddha statues in the lecture hall" are also designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan. The main hall (Shotokuden) is a Hyogo Prefecture designated cultural property and a nationally registered tangible cultural property.
