The history of Suwa Taisha is very old, and in the Kojiki, it is said that the shrine was set in Izumo and came to Suwa to oppose the cession of the country and founded the country there, and in the Nihon Shoki, it is said that Emperor Jito sent an imperial envoy. It is written

The deities enshrined at the main shrine are Takeminakata no Kami and his younger sister Yasakahime no Mikoto. Takeminakata has been worshiped as the god of water, agriculture, and war since ancient times. Yasakahime no Mikoto is the wife of Takeminakata, and is worshiped as the god of medicine and industry.

On the north side of Lake Suwa, there are Suwa Taisha Shrine Shimosha Harumiya and Shimosha Akimiya.
