Located near Bitchu Kokubunji Temple, this is a keyhole-shaped tumulus measuring approximately 100m in length that is believed to have been built in the late 6th century. You can enter the tumulus (excluding the stone chamber), making it a popular spot that is a must-see for tumulus enthusiasts.
The huge stone chamber, measuring approximately 19.4m in length, is the largest in the prefecture and contains a sarcophagus. There is an iron fence around the chamber, but you can see the sarcophagus through the gaps.

Katomorizuka Kofun is a place where you can experience history and culture, and together with the adjacent Bitchu Kokubunji Temple, it is a hidden gem where you can relax in the rural countryside of Kibiji.
