This was the center of the Bitchu Kamogata domain, which flourished during the Edo period. The former Takato family residence, a village headman, and its grounds are managed as a park. In the tatami rooms and gardens, you can enjoy a relaxing experience of traditional lifestyle and culture.
Kamogata Machiya Park is a historical park in the heart of Kamogata, Asakuchi City, retaining the atmosphere of an old highway. Machiya houses with lattice doors, white-walled storehouses, wells, and hearths have been restored to their original appearance, and the moss gardens and seasonal flowers that can be viewed from the tatami rooms evoke a sense of travel.

The park hosts exhibitions on making Japanese accessories and seasonal decorations (such as Hina dolls and Tango festival decorations). Staff will explain the meanings of the townhouse's fixtures and tools, and it's also a fun spot for photography. Surrounded by the scent of tatami mats and the warmth of wood, it's a quiet place to spend time, even on rainy days.

The park is well-maintained and home to a variety of flowers and plants, making it a fun place to stroll around.
