The park was developed using the former site of JR Freight Kobe Port Station. The site area is approximately 5.6ha, and includes a multipurpose lawn plaza, new sports plaza, entrance plaza, storytelling plaza, observation hill, and park center (administration building).

The multi-purpose lawn area is a spacious lawn area where you can relax or enjoy sports. New Sports Plaza is a facility where you can enjoy sports such as skateboarding, inline skating, and BMX. The entrance plaza is located at the entrance of the park, and has a fountain and benches, making it ideal for taking a break or strolling. The Storytelling Plaza is a plaza where the memories of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake are inherited, and you can learn about the lessons of the earthquake and the progress of recovery. Observation Hill is a hill located on the south side of the park, and you can see the scenery of Kobe Port and Mt. Rokko. The park center is the administrative building of the park, with restrooms, rest rooms, and shops.

Minato no Mori Park is located in the center of Kobe and has good access. The park is also equipped with facilities that can be used for multiple purposes, making it a park that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
