Kurashiki Yukayama is a famous power spot for warding off evil spirits, consisting of two shrines and temples, Yuka Shrine Main Shrine and Yukayama Rendaiji Temple. The custom of "visiting both shrines" has been passed down since ancient times, and the area is bustling with many worshippers.
It is said to be the head temple of warding off evil spirits and is the best in Japan for warding off evil spirits.

Mount Yuka has long been worshipped as a sacred mountain for warding off evil spirits. The main shrine of Yuka Shrine is known as the god of warding off evil spirits, and the custom of "visiting both Mount Yuka" that has continued since the Edo period has been said to bring greater benefits by visiting both Konpira-san (Kotohira Shrine) in Sanuki and Mount Yuka. The temple grounds are full of sights, including the largest Bizen-yaki torii gate in Japan and the "pain-relieving mallet," which is said to bring good luck. In 2025, the distribution of "Sanada-himo amulets," which use Sanada-himo cords, a traditional craft of the region, will also begin, and they are popular as souvenirs.

The neighboring Mount Yuka Rendaiji Temple is a special head temple of the Omuro school of Shingon Buddhism, and its principal image is the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva and Yoga Daigongen. The shrine grounds are home to the world's largest wooden seated statue of the Fudo King, the "Yakuyoke Daifudou," and are overwhelming in their power. The "Fudo Omikuji" fortune-telling slips, based on the Four Pillars of Destiny, are also popular, and can tell you detailed fortunes based on your date of birth and gender. The entire Mt. Yuka is known as a power spot, and there is no end to people who visit with various wishes, not only for protection from misfortune, but also for good luck and finding a partner.

There are a few parking lots, but it gets very crowded at the beginning of the year.

There are a few shops on the approach to the shrine, and they sell traditional dango. They are simple and delicious, like Akafuku from Ise, so be sure to try them when you stop by. However, it seems that there are many days off, so be sure to check.

[Trivia]

Mt. Yuka is famous as a sacred place for protection from misfortune, but in fact there is a unique way of worship called "Ryo-mairi." It is said that greater benefits can be obtained by visiting both Konpira Shrine in Kagawa Prefecture and Mt. Yuka.
