A long-established shop in front of Taga Taisha Shrine. Itokirimochi, a famous confectionery from the Kamakura period, is made of rice flour mochi wrapped around sweet bean paste and cut into bite-sized pieces with a string. It has a simple and elegant taste.
Itokirimochi Ganso Yujudo Honpo is a historic Japanese confectionery shop located in front of the torii gate of Taga Taisha Shrine. They continue to make "itokirimochi," a Taga specialty that is said to have originated from a historical event in the Kamakura period.

Itokirimochi is a Japanese confectionery made of soft rice flour wrapped in smooth bean paste. Its distinctive features are the three light blue and pink lines on the surface of the mochi, and the traditional method of cutting it into bite-sized pieces with thread without using a blade.

Although simple, it has an exquisite balance of the chewy texture unique to rice flour and the slightly sweet bean paste, giving it a nostalgic, rustic and elegant taste. There is also a coffee space inside the shop where you can enjoy freshly made itokirimochi with freshly brewed tea.
