Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, located in Hijiyama Park, is Japan's first public contemporary art museum. It collects and exhibits contemporary art works from Japan and abroad, and expresses Hiroshima's desire for peace through contemporary art.
Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art is a public art museum that opened in 1989. The building itself, designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa, is characterized by its beautiful design that harmonizes with nature. The museum focuses on collecting important works that show the trends in contemporary art since World War II, works that show the connection between Hiroshima and contemporary art, and excellent works by promising young artists. In the permanent exhibition, you can view a wide variety of contemporary art, including works by famous artists such as Taro Okamoto, Yayoi Kusama, and Yoshitomo Nara.

The museum also has a museum shop and a cafe, so you can relax between art appreciation sessions. There are also many sculptures by artists such as Susumu Shingu and Henry Moore on display outdoors, which can be viewed for free.

The Hiroshima City Manga Library is located on the adjacent northern site.

There are about three parking lots in the park.
