Kanba Falls in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, is the most famous waterfall in the Chugoku region and was selected as one of the "100 Best Waterfalls in Japan." It is a spot rich in nature where wild monkeys also live.
Located in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, Kanba Falls is one of the largest majestic waterfalls in the Chugoku region, boasting a drop of 110 meters and a width of 20 meters. It has been designated as one of the "100 Best Waterfalls in Japan" and "100 Views of Japan," as well as a national scenic spot, and its power overwhelms visitors. If you walk along the well-maintained promenade close to the waterfall basin, you can experience the roaring sound of the water flowing and the splashing water up close. The scenery, which is woven by the beautiful nature of the four seasons, such as the fresh greenery of spring, the coolness of summer, and the autumn leaves, is also attractive, and the autumn leaves are particularly known for being spectacular.

Kanba Falls Nature Park is home to about 170 wild Japanese macaques, and if you're lucky, you can see their adorable appearance. Since the monkeys are wild, it is not always possible to encounter them, but the unique charm of Kanba Falls is that you can get a glimpse of the natural environment in which they live. In addition to Kanba Falls, there are other sights to see in the park, such as Tamatare Falls, so you can enjoy the rich nature while walking around.

[Trivia]
In the center of Kanba Falls, there is a black rock that resembles a carp climbing up against the spray of the water, called "Koi Rock." The monkeys that live around the waterfall are wild, but in the past, Osaka University conducted research on the area.

[Hidden Spot Information]
If you go further into the walking trail of Kanba Falls Nature Park, you can see a series of small waterfalls called "tiered waterfalls." This is a rare sight that is different from ordinary waterfalls. Also, if you drive a little further from Kanba Falls, you will find the Katsuyama Townscape Preservation District, where you can stroll through the charming old townscape and look for local crafts and souvenirs.
