Izumo Yumura Onsen is a hot spring with a history of 1200 years. The public bath “Motoyu Urushi-no-Yu” is a day-trip hot spring facility with free-flowing hot spring water.
"Motoyu Urushi-Ninoyu" is a communal bathhouse with a rustic atmosphere, located on the banks of the Urushi-Nino River, a tributary of the Hii River. The bathhouse is made of stone and wood, and blends into the rural mountain scenery of Okuizumo. The hot spring is a genuine spring water that is not heated, cooled, or circulated at all, and the water temperature is about 43°C. The water is colorless, transparent, and has no peculiar taste, and is smooth to the touch, making it especially popular with women as a "beautiful skin bath" that makes the skin smooth and silky. It has long been known as a "medicinal bath" because it is said to be effective for cuts, burns, skin diseases such as eczema and heat rash, and even neuralgia.

There are indoor and outdoor baths for men and women, and in the outdoor bath you can enjoy a relaxing bath in nature while listening to the babbling of the river. There is also a separate family bath (private open-air bath), which is recommended for those who want to enjoy the hot springs in a private space.

[Trivia]
The efficacy of Izumo Yumura Onsen has been recognized since ancient times, as it was written in the "Izumo no Kuni Fudoki" compiled in 733 that "there is a medicinal bath on the banks of the Urushi-Nin River." This hot spring belongs to the Hii River system and is located in an area close to the setting of the Yamata no Orochi legend.

[Hidden gem]
Near "Motoyu Urushi-Nin no Yu" is "National Guest House Seiranso," which is also located in Izumo Yumura Onsen. You can stay overnight here or take a day trip to the baths. Also, about 20 minutes by car is the "Okuizumo Tane Nature Museum," where you can learn about the nature and history of Okuizumo. It is a good idea to experience the charm of the region along with the hot springs.

[Useful points of concern]
The hot spring area itself has a quaint atmosphere, and there are few large tourist facilities or restaurants in the surrounding area.
The bathrooms also do not have showers, so you have to use the old-fashioned method of filling a wooden tub with hot water and letting it run.
Shampoo and conditioner are also not provided (though they are sold), so it is best to bring your own if you need them.
