Ichibata Yakushi (Ichibata Temple) in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture is an ancient temple that is worshipped nationwide as the "eye yakushi". You can worship here surrounded by beautiful nature and silence.
Ichibata Yakushi is an ancient temple located on Ichibata Mountain, 200 meters above sea level, almost in the center of the Shimane Peninsula, and its principal image is Yakushi Nyorai. It is particularly known as the "Yakushi of the Eyes," and is said to have the power to cure eye diseases and restore eyesight, so many worshippers come from all over the country. In addition to the hall that enshrines the principal image, the temple grounds have many attractions, including the "84,000 Buddha Hall," which has 84,000 Buddha statues dedicated to it. It is a power spot where you can calm your mind and worship in a quiet and solemn atmosphere.

The approach to the temple, which is made up of about 1,200 stone steps that continue from the foot of the mountain, is said to be even more beneficial if you walk up it. The stone steps, surrounded by rich nature, show different expressions in each season, and you can enjoy beautiful scenery especially during the seasons of new greenery and autumn leaves. Even if you are not confident in your physical strength or are short on time, you can easily visit the temple, as there is a driveway that allows you to access the summit by car and there is a large parking lot.
