Lake Shinji Nature Museum Gobius is an experiential aquarium that mainly exhibits freshwater fish that live in Lake Shinji and Lake Nakaumi. You can learn about ecosystems and the environment in a fun way.
Gobius Nature Museum is a unique aquarium that specializes in the creatures that live in Lake Shinji and Lake Nakaumi, two brackish lakes that are among the largest in Japan's freshwater areas, and the rivers surrounding them. Various aquatic creatures are exhibited in tanks of various sizes, from familiar creatures such as Japanese clams, smelts, and icefish to endangered and rare fish. Each tank is designed to recreate the habitat of the creatures, allowing visitors to observe their ecology in a natural environment.

Gobius's main feature is that it has many exhibits that are not only enjoyable to look at, but also allow visitors to learn through experience. There are "touch and feel" tanks where you can actually touch the creatures, seasonal special exhibits, and events with specialists. It is a popular "edutainment facility" where children and adults alike can learn about the rich ecosystem of Lake Shinji and Lake Nakaumi and the importance of environmental conservation around the water while having fun.

Various events are planned throughout the year, and it is especially crowded with families during the summer vacation period. The museum shop also sells original goods with motifs of the creatures that live in Lake Shinji, as well as books on environmental studies, making it a great place to look for souvenirs. Located on the shores of Lake Shinji, it offers beautiful scenery and is attracting attention as a new attraction for "Lake Shinji Tourism."

It's not flashy, but it's a popular aquarium with reasonable prices that is recommended for families with small children.
