Nunobiki Falls is a waterfall with a height of 43m at the foot of Mt. Rokko in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. Nunobiki Falls is one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls, located a 10-minute walk from Shin-Kobe Station.
Located in Kobe's Chuo Ward, Nunobiki Falls is surrounded by rich nature and is one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan. It is a scenic spot that represents Kobe. It is a collective name for four waterfalls: Metaki, Tsuzumigataki, Meotodaki, and Otaki. Otaki, the most upstream waterfall, is particularly impressive with its powerful flow from a height of about 43 meters. Walking along the well-maintained promenade close to the waterfall basin, you will be surrounded by the fresh air and the sound of flowing water, which you would never expect to find in the city center, and will refresh both your body and mind.

Nunobiki Falls is very easy to access, about a 15-20 minute walk from Shin-Kobe Station. You will be surprised to find that nature that will make you forget the hustle and bustle of the city is spread out just a short distance from the station. There are observation decks and gazebos scattered along the way, so you can enjoy a stroll while viewing the waterfall from various angles and taking a break. In particular, during the season of fresh greenery and the season of autumn leaves, the contrast between the waterfall and the surrounding trees is beautiful, and many tourists and hikers visit.

Nunobiki Falls has long been known as a scenic spot, and has been loved by many writers and artists, including being featured in utamakura poems. There are charming teahouses and the Kobe Nunobiki Ropeway station near the falls, so it is recommended to take the ropeway and view the Kobe cityscape and falls from above.

[Hidden gem]
If you continue up the mountain path from Otaki, you will reach the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden. If you extend your walk to the herb garden, you can enjoy even more beautiful flowers and a spectacular view of the Kobe cityscape.

[Concerns]
There is a promenade on the path to the falls, but some places are sloped and some places can be slippery after rain, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. There is little lighting at night, so it is best to walk during the day. There is no dedicated parking lot, so you will need to use the paid parking lot around Shin-Kobe Station.
