Muroji Temple is called Women's Koya because women are allowed to worship in contrast to Koyasan, where women were once forbidden. There is a national treasure five-storied pagoda.
Muroji Temple, located in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, is a historic temple that has attracted faith as "Nyonin Koya" (Women's Koya) since women were allowed to enter Mt. Koya during the period when women were prohibited from entering. Located in the mountains surrounded by rich nature, the temple grounds are dotted with the national treasure Kondo, five-story pagoda (Japan's smallest outdoor five-story pagoda), Mirokudo, and other structures, giving a sense of the weight of history. In particular, the layout of the temple buildings surrounded by trees creates a mysterious and mystical atmosphere.

Muroji Temple's greatest charm is its harmony with its beautiful nature. In particular, the temple grounds are colored by rhododendrons and cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn, showing different faces in each season. The approach to the temple, with its moss-covered stone steps and towering cedar trees, is filled with refreshing air that is truly worthy of being called a power spot. As you climb the stone steps, you will come across important cultural properties and national treasure buildings that fascinate visitors with their beauty and historical value.

In the temple, you can take your time to appreciate many excellent Buddhist statues from the early Heian period, such as the National Treasure Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva Standing Statue and the Important Cultural Property Seated Shaka Nyorai Statue. The statues' gentle expressions and intricate carvings will soothe the hearts of those who see them. Muroji Temple, which combines history, culture, and beautiful nature, is an ancient temple of healing and learning that you should definitely visit when sightseeing in Nara.

The Tokai Nature Trail runs between Muroji Temple and Oono-ji Temple.

[Useful points of concern]
There are many stone steps and slopes in the temple grounds, and the path to the inner sanctuary is particularly steep and unstable in some places. We strongly recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and clothing. In winter, the stone steps may become slippery due to snow accumulation, so please be careful. To access the area by public transportation, take a bus from Kintetsu Muroguchi Ono Station, but there are few buses, so be sure to check the timetable in advance.
