Gesshoji Temple is the family temple of the Matsudaira clan and is known for being loved by Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo).
Gesshoji Temple has a simple and serene atmosphere where time flows quietly.

The temple grounds are planted with hydrangeas, and it is also known as the Hydrangea Temple. During the blooming season, the temple attracts many tourists.

The Japanese garden, as seen from the tatami room, is also very beautiful.
