Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture is an ancient Tendai sect temple. It is famous for its three-story pagoda, main hall, and vegetarian cuisine, and is a "power spot in Sanin" where you can enjoy history and nature in silence.
Kiyomizu-dera is an ancient Tendai temple that is said to have been founded in 587 at the request of Empress Suiko. The temple grounds spread out over the foot of a lush mountain, and the Konpon-do (National Important Cultural Property), which retains the Zen Buddhist style of the Kamakura period, and the vermilion-painted three-story pagoda (Prefectural Cultural Property) have a majestic appearance. Cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn decorate the pagoda, welcoming visitors with a sense of history and the four seasons.

Unlike Kyoto's Kiyomizu-dera, which is famous for its "Kiyomizu Stage," Kiyomizu-dera's quiet and solemn atmosphere is a major attraction. When you stroll through the temple grounds, you will feel a sense of cleansing your soul, with rows of cedar trees that are hundreds of years old and the comfortable, clear air. It is also known as a famous spot for cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn, and especially during the autumn leaves, the contrast between the fiery red and yellow trees and the three-story pagoda is breathtakingly beautiful. You can also enjoy snowy scenery in winter, and the different scenery each season fascinates visitors.

After worship, you can enjoy the traditional vegetarian cuisine served at the temple lodgings, an experience unique to Kiyomizu-dera. Vegetarian cuisine is painstakingly prepared using locally sourced seasonal ingredients, and is rich in flavor and good for the body and mind.

From the parking lot, it's about a 10-minute walk up the path.
