The garden of Raikyu-ji Temple, adjacent to Ishibiya Furusato Village, is a dry landscape garden that makes use of Mt. Atago as a backdrop. It is a tranquil space that breathes the spirit of Zen, where you can enjoy traditional Japanese beauty.
This is one of the representative gardens from the early Edo period, and strongly reflects the Zen philosophy of landscape design using only sand, stones, and trees. The garden, as seen from the main hall, features Crane Island in front and Kame Island to the right, and is characterized by its grand scale and meticulous layout, incorporating Atagoyama Mountain behind it as a borrowed landscape, inviting visitors into a world of tranquil beauty.

The charm of this garden is that it shows different expressions depending on the viewing position and time of day. The shadows of the sand ripples and the expressions of the stones change depending on the amount of sunlight and the changing seasons, so there is always something new to discover no matter how many times you visit. In particular, in autumn, the autumn leaves color the garden, giving it a different feel. By sitting and looking at the garden, you can calmly face yourself and feel the spirit of Zen. You can experience the beauty of the harmony woven by traditional Japanese aesthetic sense and nature.
