Taisho Cave in Akiyoshidai is a fantastic underground space created by stalactites. It is popular as a three-dimensional cave with a large difference in elevation, giving you the feeling of being an explorer.
Taisho Cave is a magnificent limestone cave created by nature, located in Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is one of the three major limestone caves in Akiyoshidai, along with Akiyoshido Cave and Kagekiyo Cave, but unlike other limestone caves, it is characterized by its three-dimensional structure with different heights.

It has a multi-layered structure connected by numerous subsidiary caves and shafts, and by going up and down the passages and stairs, you can experience the feeling of exploring underground. The stalactites hanging from the ceiling and the stalagmites extending from the floor create a fantastic sight when lit up.

Inside the cave, there are attractions such as "Cow Hiding," "Entrance to Hell," and "Lion Rock," each with its own unique shape. In particular, the curtains of stalactites formed over a long period of time and the strange rocks polished by water make you feel the greatness of the power of nature. The temperature inside the cave remains constant throughout the year, so it feels cool in the summer and warm in the winter, making it a comfortable place to visit all year round. After exploring the cave, we also recommend taking a stroll around the karst plateau of Akiyoshidai.

It takes about 30 minutes on foot to go around the entire cave.
