Sensoji Temple is the oldest temple in Tokyo and the head temple of the Kannon sect of Buddhism. It is famous for its large red lanterns and the Kaminarimon Gate (Thunder Gate).
Sensoji Temple was founded in the 36th year of Emperor Suiko's reign (628).

Today, it is still one of Tokyo's leading tourist spots. There are various attractions such as Kaminarimon, Nakamise Street, and the main hall. Also, on January 21st every year, Sensoji Temple attracts the largest number of worshipers in the country.
