Takayama Jinya is located in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, and is the site of the Gundai and Daikansho government office that governed Hida Province during the Edo period. As the political center of Hida Province, which was a direct territory of the Edo Shogunate, various administrative affairs such as tax collection and trials were carried out here. Currently, it is the only Gundai and Daikansho remaining in the country, and it has been designated as a national historic site as a very valuable historical building that conveys the building and interior of the government office at that time.

The charm of this Jinya lies in its historical weight and the space that allows you to imagine the lives of people at that time. Inside the building, the Ginmisho (courtroom), the officials' offices, the kitchen, the storehouse, and other areas have been left as they were at the time, and you can visit them. In particular, the Ginmisho has a solemn atmosphere like those seen in period dramas, and it makes you imagine the courtrooms of the time. In addition, the woodworking techniques applied throughout the building are excellent, and you can experience the skills of Hida's craftsmen up close.
