Located in Hakui City, Ishikawa Prefecture, this ancient Noto shrine is famous for its matchmaking. The forbidden forest and the mysterious atmosphere of the shrine grounds are popular as power spots.
Located in Hakui City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Keta Taisha Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Noto Province, is the oldest shrine on the Noto Peninsula and has long been worshipped as the Ichinomiya of Noto Province. It is said to have been founded more than 2,000 years ago, and its main deity is Okuninushi no Mikoto. It is especially famous nationwide as the god of matchmaking. The vast forest within the shrine grounds is called "the forest that cannot be entered" and is a sacred area where access is restricted to the general public, further enhancing its mysticism.
The greatest attraction of this shrine is its solemn and mysterious atmosphere. Once you pass through the main gate, you will find yourself surrounded by a dense forest and enveloped in refreshing air. The main hall, worship hall and stone torii gates are designated as important cultural properties of Japan, and their solemn appearance gives you a sense of the weight of history. In particular, the "forest that cannot be entered" is a sacred place where you are not allowed to step foot, and its depth is captivating.
Keta Taisha Shrine is not only a power spot for matchmaking, but also a place where you can experience the rich nature, history, and culture of Noto. The "Tsuitachi Mairi" held on the first of every month is an ancient event where you can participate in the monthly festival at the shrine in the refreshing early morning and pray for the safety of your family and prosperity in business.
The "Kita Taisha Summer Festival" held every year on August 10th is one of the most famous summer festivals in Noto.
[Trivia]
Kita Taisha Shrine's "Unenterable Forest" is a primeval forest that has never been touched by human hands since ancient times, and is considered a valuable place from an academic perspective. During the annual Okumiya festival, only priests enter the forest blindfolded, so general worshippers can only sense the forest's presence from the view along the worship path.
