The Akechi Pass Observation Point is located at an elevation of approximately 650 meters on the border between Hino Town, Tottori Prefecture, and Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture. Mount Daisen and the valley at its base stretch out before you.

The observation point is famous for the sea of clouds that appears in the early mornings from late autumn to early winter. The spectacular sight of Mount Daisen emerging like an island from the white sea that fills the valley is a sight to behold, and photographers gather here even before sunrise. The clouds are most likely to appear on chilly mornings after rain. Since there are few streetlights in the area, it's a good idea to bring a flashlight.

A good spot to photograph the sea of clouds is up the hill next to the parking lot.

There are no restrooms, so be sure to use them beforehand. In winter, care should be taken when driving due to icy roads and snow accumulation.
