Asemigawa Swimming Area is a natural swimming pool in the Asemigawa River, which is famous for its clear waters. The whole family can enjoy swimming in the clear, emerald green river and jumping in.
Located in central Kochi Prefecture, the Asemi River is known for its clean waters, rivaling the Shimanto River. Among these, the Asemi River Swimming Area is a popular spot, attracting both locals and tourists from outside the prefecture. With depths ranging from shallow to deep enough for diving, everyone from children to adults can enjoy swimming safely. The water quality is exceptionally high, and the emerald green water is so clear you can clearly see the riverbed, making it soothing to look at.

Upstream of the waterfall, shallow areas between 20cm and 50cm make the river relatively safe for even small children. Many areas are also 50cm to 1m deep, making it ideal for swimming. While there are sections with depths of 1m to 3m, the current is relatively gentle.
A cliff about 4m high allows visitors to jump into the water, a popular spot for local junior and high school students.

Downstream from the waterfall, the river is home to a diverse range of creatures, and fish like river gobies and donko can be caught with nets. If you're lucky, you might even see fish like sweetfish and amago trout.

The water temperature, even in midsummer, is neither too cold nor too lukewarm; it starts out slightly chilly, but once you've submerged, it's just right. You can stay in the water for about 30 minutes without getting cold and it feels comfortable. (Individual results may vary.)

[Helpful Concerns]
Although it's said to be safe, the Asemi River is a natural river, so there are places where it suddenly gets deep and where the current is fast. Keep an eye on children and pay close attention to their safety. Care is especially important in the irrigation channel-like areas on the mountain side of the embankment, where the water is deep and swirling.
Also, there are few places to block the sun, so sun protection measures such as a tent, hat, and sunscreen are necessary. There's almost no shade.

Local residents are working hard to keep the river clean, and it's a very beautiful river, so it's essential to take any trash home with you. It's a good idea to pick up any trash you see on the ground.
