The streetscape of Omihachiman in Shiga prefecture, Japan, is known for its atmosphere with preserved merchant houses of the Omi merchants, who emphasized the principle of "sellers and buyers benefitting, as well as society."
The streetscape with the atmosphere of the remaining Omi merchants' houses, known for their "sellers, buyers, and society all benefit" philosophy. Historic landmarks such as Hikone Hachiman Shrine, the Hachiman moat, and Shinmachi Street exude a sense of history. Other places have scattered locations for enjoying Omi beef, shops, and cafes, but they are not densely packed. There are Yakatabune boats on the Hachiman moat, and the tea house "Taneya" adjacent to Hikone Hachiman Shrine is popular. A ropeway that climbs to the Hikone Castle ruins on Mt. Hikone is located right near Hikone Hachiman Shrine. There are about three parking lots available for regular cars, costing around 500 yen.
