"Anagomeshi Ueno" is a long-established restaurant founded in 1901, and is known as the originator of Miyajima's specialty "Anagomeshi". The recipe has remained unchanged since the restaurant's founding, and the dish is a perfect balance of carefully grilled conger eel and rice cooked in broth made from the bones of the conger eel. The secret sweet and spicy sauce is fragrant and appetizing.

The conger eels are freshly procured early every morning, and are carefully butchered by hand one by one. Since the eels are grilled after receiving an order, the fragrant aroma of freshly cooked eels fills the air, allowing you to fully enjoy the texture and flavor of the plump conger eel. It is also available as a takeaway lunch box, so it is recommended to eat it on the ferry or while enjoying the scenery at a tourist destination.

In addition to "Ueno", "Wada" and "Fujitaya" are also popular conger eel restaurants.

On Wednesdays, they only sell bento boxes, but you can eat inside the store.

There is a parking lot behind the store with about 10 spaces.

As this is a very popular store, long lines are expected, especially at lunchtime, on weekends, and during consecutive holidays. We recommend that you visit with plenty of time to spare. Takeaway bento boxes are also popular, but they may sell out, so it is best to buy them early.
It is not fluffy like Edomae conger eel, so if you are imagining a soft and plump conger eel, it may not be what you are looking for.
