Sawamochi Chaya is a long-established shop located in Konan City, Kochi Prefecture that dates back to the Edo period and is popular for its Nikki-flavored daifuku mochi.

Their signature product, Ochaya Mochi, is a rice cake filled with a rich cinnamon flavor, and is a famous confectionery representing Kochi Prefecture.

Ochaya Mochi was named after the fact that it was traditionally presented as a tea snack to the lord of Kochi when he made alternate attendance trips to Edo.

It has a shelf life of two days when stored at room temperature, but it is recommended to eat it on the same day as the mochi will harden if chilled in the refrigerator.
