Inujima Smelter Museum is an innovative museum that combines the historical heritage of Inujima, which once flourished as a copper refining site, with contemporary art and architecture. Designed by architect Hiroshi Sanbuichi, the museum exhibits artworks by Yukinori Yanagi. The museum makes use of the remains of the existing smelter and incorporates an air conditioning system that uses natural energy such as sunlight and geothermal heat, creating an environmentally friendly building. Traces of the Meiji era industrial heritage, such as chimneys and karami brick walls, remain throughout the space, creating a space where history and the present resonate.

The artworks in the museum are based on the theme of the light and shadow of Japan's modernization, and Yukinori Yanagi's installations provide an opportunity to look at environmental issues and the state of society. The location, surrounded by the surrounding rocks and greenery, gives visitors a sense of the extraordinary, and the museum has attracted attention as one of the venues for the Setouchi Triennale. The Inujima Ticket Center Cafe is not located on the grounds of the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum, but is located in the ticket center facing the port. It offers a wide range of menu items, including morning menu items such as bread and rice balls, lunch menu items such as somen noodles and tai-meshi (sea bream rice), and desserts. In particular, the menu items allow you to experience the local food culture, such as tai-somen noodles and tai-meshi (sea bream rice), which have long been eaten on happy occasions such as weddings in Inujima. You can also enjoy unique desserts such as cup ice cream made with citrus fruits grown in the museum's environmental system.
The interior of the cafe is a calm space, different from the modern atmosphere of the museum, and is perfect for relieving the fatigue of your travels. It is also recommended to use it while waiting for the ferry.

The building material of the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum, karami bricks, are made from recycled slag produced when smelting copper. This was cutting-edge technology at the time, as it reused industrial waste as building material.
