Ryugado Cave is a limestone cave located in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture. Counted as one of the three major limestone caves in Japan, it is said to have been formed over 175 million years.
The cave is approximately 4 kilometers long, with approximately 1 kilometer of it open to the public as a tourist trail. Along the trail, visitors can enjoy a variety of natural stalactite formations, including the giant 11-meter-tall stone pillar "Amokoseki" (Tenkoishi) and the "Gyokuren Falls," carved by flowing water.

The cave maintains a year-round temperature of around 17°C, remaining cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Remains of cave dwellings believed to have been used during the Yayoi period and Yayoi-style pottery have also been discovered within the cave. Ryugado Cave is a valuable tourist spot combining natural beauty with historical value.

[Useful Concerns]
The cave can be explored in 40 minutes to an hour on foot, but there are many ups and downs, including stairs, so some physical fitness is required. Additionally, the first third of the walk has many low ceilings, requiring adults to bend over. This may be tiring for those with back pain or limited stamina. However, once you get past that point, the cave becomes wider and more open, allowing you to enjoy it at a relatively leisurely pace.
The cave is cool in the summer and may feel a little cold at first, but the humidity is high and you'll use up a lot of energy and get hot, so you don't need a jacket, but it would be useful to have something to put on.
The cave is also damp and the ground is slippery in places, so it's best to wear sneakers.
