Located in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, Takeshima Aquarium is a small aquarium popular for its unique handwritten explanatory panels by the keepers and its homely atmosphere. With its grand opening in the fall of 2024, a huge aquarium specializing in deep-sea fish will be newly installed, allowing visitors to observe rare deep-sea creatures that are not usually seen, such as spider crabs swimming in groups, up close. The exhibition area has been expanded by about twice the size, allowing visitors to enjoy encounters with a wider variety of sea creatures.

The renewal saw the upgrade of the sea lion pool, allowing visitors to see the sea lions swimming at any time. In addition, the capybara exhibit, which had been suspended, has been revived in the outdoor space, and otters have been added to the group, providing even more opportunities to interact with popular animals.

While retaining the handwritten explanatory panels and closeness to the keepers, the exhibits have been significantly improved, making this an aquarium where visitors, from children to adults, can make new discoveries no matter how many times they visit.

A 387m bridge spans the nearby Takeshima Island. Takeshima is home to Yaotomi Shrine, which enshrines Benzaiten.
The view of Takeshima and the bridge is beautiful, making it a great place for couples to go on a date.

The Takeshima Fantasy Museum, decorated with 55 million shells and 20,000 blue LEDs, is located nearby on the east side.
